Nommer les animaux exotiques de Baybars, d'Orient en Occident

Abstract : Diplomatic animal gifts, in the 13th century Mediterranean area, had a specific influence on zoological knowledge and naming of rare and exotic species. Sulnat Baybars, born in 1233, udes frequently during his reign this animal diplomacy, sending exotic beasts in Spain, Sicily, Byzantium, etc. This paper studies the reception of theses animals in these countries, throughout three case studies : the Giraffe, the Elephant and the Zebra.
