Les vicaires apostoliques en phase pionnière en Océanie au XIXe siècle : des " stratèges " de l'évangélisation.

Abstract : A study of the Apostolic vicariates in Oceania in the 19th century, shows the existence of a missionary " strategy " on a pioneer phase. The founder Apostolic vicars, facing multiple constraints, have been forced to fit into the local geopolitics, being de facto involved into local and even international issues, in the case of the emergence of the colonial events. While " playing a balancing act ", they put in place their " geostrategy " of development, creating stations and keeping their options open in terms of resources. Finally, directives and manuals they wrote tell us about the existence of a " strategy " of evangelization based on St Paul's insertion and methods more or less adapted to convert the inhabitants.
