La visualisation des réseaux. Principes, enjeux et perspectives

Abstract : This paper of the fmr group (flows, matrices, networks) examines several issues regarding networks' graphical representation. After outlining the general principles of graphic semiology, this synthesis presents several families of algorithms (MDS, PCA, energy-based, etc..) and alternative representations (matrix blocked and mixed). Problems involved by large graphs' visualization are also discussed.
