Les salariés face aux restructurations financières : quand le changement n'est plus soutenable

Abstract : Since the 90's and the apogee of a financial accumulation regime, firms are experiencing restructuring and redundancies but the consequences on employment are still difficult to assess. Compulsory redundancies which are usually measured do not captured the whole effect of restructuring. Based on interviews with individuals who had left their firm (either "voluntary" or not) in the context of financial restructuring, our paper shows similar experiences preceding job separation: unbearable work. But the mode of separation itself is constructed within a process of disengagement which depends on many factors. At the end, and whatever the subsequent job, job separation in such context seems changed their attitude to work.
