L'expression de la similarité en Gbaya (R.C.A.)

Abstract : In Gbaya, an Ubanguian language of Central African Republic, similarity is expressed by a discontinous morphem hé...gá meaning "as". This similative morphem can introduce either a nominal phrase or a clause. It expresses simulative and comparative values but has no functive value. I shall present its different uses. It can be related, as a possible origin, to the adverb hɔ̰́gɔ̰́ "like this" which can be realized hégɔ́. The two elements that constitute it can never be separated, however the first element is present in the interrogative morphem hégè (like/what) "how". All these morpphems belong to the same semantic aera of comparison.
