The proposed study concerns the local cultural history related to manufacturing, management and control of lighting situations in the big mansions of the medina of Tunis between 1704 and 1815. The methodology adopted will be based on what we might call an 'ethnoscenology of the sensitive' regarding the reconstruction of events and actions, especially the adaptive procedures deployed by the inhabitants, to dose, adjust and improve the brightness of internal spaces. Knowing that the usual hypotheses associated with these practices are difficult to verify today, we are going to use written records of that time.
