L'ensemble funéraire protohistorique de la " ZAC Mermoz " à Castelnau-le-Lez, Hérault (VIe - IVe s av. J.-C.)

Abstract : The Mermoz funerary area was recently excavated 2 km south of the Sextantio oppidum (Castelnau-le-Lez, Hérault). Buried along a road in the surroundings of a protohistoric settlement, twelve cremation graves dated 6th-4th century BC were uncovered during the excavation. Very few examples of this kind of funerary group are known in late Iron Age southern Gaul. Mermoz allows us to highlight the variability of burial practices within the group. It also makes us question the biological or social selection of the people buried there.
