Exploring the IntUne Corpus

Résumé

This chapter introduces the volume which examines how Europe is represented linguistically in the news media of four European countries, France, Italy, Poland and the UK, through the use of a sample of newspapers and television news transcripts - a corpus - using the theoretical and methodological frameworks of corpus linguistics and those of corpus-assisted discourse analysis. The research was conducted as part of the EU-financed IntUne project,i whose aim was to investigate attitudes to an ever-expanding and ever-closer European Union. The project was composed of four working groups: experts, elites, mass and media. This volume presents some of the work of the media group.
