Les lampes et les récipients en pierre du site magdalénien du Rocher de la Caille.

Abstract : About twenty fragments of bowls, nearly all made of soapstone, have been found on the site of Le Rocher de la Caille (Loire). Several analysis have been done on these fragments: one was archaeological, based on their technical and morphological features, another physic-chemical, and also a microscopic observation, for some samples. It can be concluded that only three of them could be used as lamps. Most of other containers with various shapes and depth are adorned with original decorations, small bumps carved around, little notches engraved on the side, lines engraved and squared on the edge. But whatever the function of these soapstone containers may be, they surely indicate one of technical activities carried on inside the settlement: all the fragments, no trace of burnishing, no trace of use, all theses signs must prove that the manufacturing of these containers was made on site and that only remained the non-reused fragments in this place.
