Pour une archéologie du geste. : Broyer, moudre, piler, des premiers chasseurs aux premiers agriculteurs.

Abstract : This book was an outcome of my research (HDR) undertaken in 1999 (HDR: highest academic qualification). The study of ground stone tools led me to propose a new perspective on these neglected artefacts. On the basis of use wear traces visible on these tools, it is possible to reconstruct the work movements related to their use, even the function of these tools and the activities in which they were involved. The study of the evolution of these tools enabled me to propose a framework for the evolution of work-related body movements as well as the corresponding tools. This framework takes the form of a type of net with innovations resulting from the combination of two independent pre-existing ideas, and from the fusion of a movement and a raw material.
