L'analyse spatiale des nécropoles revisitée : l'exemple de la nécropole de l'âge du Fer final et du début de l'époque gallo-romaine de Lamadelaine (Grand Duché de Luxembourg)

Abstract : Cemeteries are rarely characterized by arbitrary implantations and distributions of the funerary features. The burials themselves are, in general, characterized by an instant-formation and often undamaged artefacts, deposited intentionally. As a consequence, this type of archaeological sites is most suitable for quantitative and spatial analyses allowing to reveal more information on the spatial organization, the chronology and the social-economic aspects of the cemetery. This paper evaluates the principal methods of intra-site spatial analysis adapted to cemeteries on the basis of the data of the protohistoric and Gallo-Roman cemetery of Lamadelaine (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) and proposes a new interpretation on the spatial organization of this cemetery of the oppidum of Titelberg.
