L'ambivalence de la notion d'action dans la Dynamique de Leibniz : la correspondance entre Leibniz et De Volder (Ie Partie)

Abstract : The object of the first part of this paper is to make clear the relationships which are established by Leibniz between the metaphysical action and the dynamical action, following the way he elaborates the concept of dynamical action in the texts of the years 1689-90 and in particular in the Dynamica de potentia. Bringing to light the dependence between these two notions leads to conceive the ambivalence of the action as a means to understand, in a new perspective, leaning on the Dynamics, the relationships between substance and phenomenon. The correspondence with De Volder is one of the most important places where this clarification occurs.
