Existe-t-il un langage propre à la politique ?

Abstract : Presentation of the corpus of French political discourse which is a section in the library of modern French. The focus is placed on the presidents of the Fifth Republic since 1958. The usual words are not unique to politics, but their frequencies and their combinations create some characteristic lexical universes. Political discourse is rather impersonal with a pedagogical tone. It is oriented towards the present and the future. It focuses on generalities and abstractions rather than on the action. This experiment shows the usefulness, for applied linguistics, of statistics and of large corpora of reference.
