A propos de Kal et de Sigidi : Problèmes de dialectologie Zaar (tchadique Sud-Bauchi)

Abstract : This paper deals with the internal classification of the Saya cluster (Chadic West B, Southern Bauchi, Baaraawaa Sub-group South : Shimizu 78 :13). A new Zaar dialect is introduced : the Zaar of Marti, and the Kal dialect of Zaar is compared with the Sigidi language. Sigidi and the Kal dialect of Zaar are proved to be one and the same linguistic unit. The notions of language and dialect are questioned taking into account their sociolinguistic dimensions.
