Ḏahabī contre la "pensée spéculative"

Abstract : The Shafi'i Damascene scholar Shams al-Din al-Dhahabi (673/1274-748/1348) was, among others, one of the students of the Hanbali Ibn Taymiyya. He became a great traditionist (specialist in hadith), historiographer and theologian. In theology, and not in Law, he adopted some positions of his master, being opposed to "dialectical theology" ('ilm al-kalam). We have studied his position on that issue in his work "Siyar a'lam al-nubala'" (25 vols.), especially in the tenth, eleventh and twelth classes of scholars.
