Dans quelle langue transcrire les noms propres ?

Abstract : This article is about the transcription of microtoponyms in a multingual context. The aim is to point how heterogeneous languages are, while equitably representing each language - which proves particularly tricky when it comes to toponyms that " slide " from one language to another. After presenting the field, the research and the data, we describe the different kinds of problems that were encountered (transcription span, choice of language and of alphabet). Finally, we show that it is neither possible nor advisable to radically choose between a standardised orthographic transcription and a phonetic or phonological transcription. The option chosen and illustrated here is a multi tier classification model that allows us to take into account and to cover every aspect of the question.
