Centralités commerciales et logique hiérarchique en milieu urbain dense : Une démarche renouvelée d'analyse spatiale appliquée au cas de Paris

Abstract : The present article puts forward a methodological approach to analyze commercial centres within high-density areas. Spatial analysis methods, distance-scan algorithm for spatial data and ascending hierarchical clustering, make it possible to process data from two complementary databases (total retail outlets/chain stores). Our goal is to examine the relevance of classical models of city centre retailing to the heart of Paris metropolitan region. We also aim to see what happened to Paris retail geography after three decades of spatial restructuring at the metropolitan level.
