Du renouveau dans les activités du Tribunal international du droit de la mer

Abstract : Since its entry into function, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) has experienced a hardly diversified activity, limited almost exclusively to emergency proceedings. Over the past few months, hope for a renewal in ITLOS activities has arisen from the filing in the Registry of two cases. The first one, which is to be decided on the merits, concerns the delimitation of the maritime boundary between Bangladesh and Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal ; the second one, which is to be the object of an advisory opinion, concerns the exploitation of seabed Area. What is left to determine are the procedural and substantial stakes implied by those new cases for the Tribunal, and their potential impact upon its attractiveness in the future.
