Prosodie et émergence du sens. Propositions pour une étude cognitive de l'intonation

Abstract : This paper aims at giving to intonation (in the case of English) a driving role in the building and the emergence of meaning. It presents four propositions, going from the perception of intonation to its role in the representation of meaning. First, the concept of " intonational form ", based on the gestaltist model of " good form " is stated (proposition 1) as well as this of " dynamic form " (proposition 2). In proposition 3, intonation is equaled to the other linguistic components (syntax, lexicon, grammar) in the semantic splicing. Finally, proposition 4 gives intonation a fundamental role in the evolution of the " verbal scene ".
