Réveil de l'ethnicité et pentecôtisme indigène en Europe

This article analyzes the phenomenon of the ethnicity revival in Europe in its relationship with the African Pentecostalism through the historical case of The Church of Pentecost of Ghana, a Church which is thought at the same time "indigenous" and transnational. The problems of the inter-ethnic relations gave rise to new African Churches on the European ground. For several authors, it is the bad reception reserved to the African migrants in the European Churches which would have involved a resurgence of the ethnicity in Europe and which pushes these migrants to gather initially on the basis of their ethnic identity. Nevertheless, the attachment for the use of the vernacular languages in the African Pentecostals assemblies, encourages the formation of community and makes difficult integration in the European societies and the access to the national citizenship.
Cet article analyse le phénomène du réveil de l'ethnicité en Europe dans ses rapports avec le pentecôtisme africain à travers le cas historique de la Church of Pentecost du Ghana, une Église qui se pense à la fois « indigène » et transnationale. Les problèmes liés aux relations inter-ethniques ont donné naissance à de nouvelles Églises africaines sur le sol européen. Pour certains auteurs, c'est le mauvais accueil réservé aux migrants africains dans les Églises européennes qui aurait entraîné une résurgence de « l'ethnicité » en Europe et qui pousse ces migrants à se regrouper d'abord sur la base de leur identité ethnonationale. Néanmoins, l'attachement à l'usage des langues vernaculaires dans les assemblées pentecôtistes africaines, encourage la formation de niches communautaires et rend difficile l'intégration dans les sociétés européennes et l'accès à la citoyenneté nationale.
