CLIMAT ET ALTITUDE DANS DES VILLES TROPICALES CONTINENTALES : CHAPADA DOS GUIMARÃES ET CUIABÁ/BRÉSIL.

Abstract : This paper aims at comparing the influence of land use and altitude on temperature of two cities located at similar latitudes and different altitudes in the midwest region of Brazil. The studies were conducted during the course of 2008 with (i) concomitant measures in the two cities using automatic weather stations located in the central areas of both cities and (ii) travelling temperature measures using sensors set up on a car. In general, temperature in the town of Chapada dos Guimarães was 4.7°C lower than that of Cuiabá while wooded and open areas experienced milder and more comfortable thermal conditions.
