Une mesure d'un demi-pied romain à Chalon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire)

Abstract : A previously unidentified object is here recognized as a Roman rule of half a foot, probably used by a craftsman producing small finds. The tool bears severa marks indicating the use, by its owner, of half digiti and half unciae. The Roman digitus (18,48 mm) and the uncia (24,64 mm), being divisions of the foot by 16 or 12, could therefore be divided themselves for artefacts of smaller size.
