Problems and challenges in teacher training of mathematics students with a view to preparing them to teach statistics in basic education

Abstract : Teaching Statistics in the Basic Education is based on the guidance of educational institutions (Ministry of Education, State Governments, educational institutions public and private), on the materials produced for this purpose (as the textbook) and on the teachers. In the final years of Elementary School (6th to 9th grade) and high school, the main professional responsible for teaching this subject are graduated in mathematics teacher. In this paper, we discuss an ongoing research that faces the problems of training teachers of mathematics students, in special the problems related to teaching statistics as well as the need for training - taking into consideration the didactic of statistics.
