Crime prevention in France today. The chapter first gives an overview, tracing the evolution of crime prevention within the broader context of other polices such as law enforcement and urban policies. Then, in a more prospective view, the question of whether or not the recent emergence of situational prevention constitutes on illustration, among others, of a break with the past or a new paradigm is discussed.
