Über den Gegenstand der Hermeneutik
Résumé
Neither the recognition of a transcendent foundation of meaning nor the assumption of u universally shared reason have brought us close to a sufficient concept of hermeneutics, one that should recognize the sensibility of signs as well as the claim to an universal validity of their sense. In understanding, one should aim at what is being judged in a text, considered as a performance that changes the system of a language in a unique way by making a particular use of the codes and rules of the system. Thus, hermeneutics interprets an already interpretive text, not by entering into a dialogue with it, but by recognizing the interpretation enclosed in it as the signature of another subjectivity.
