Dalla grammatica allo stile. Schleiermacher e Adelung. Riflessioni sull'individuazione nel linguaggio
Résumé
A comparison between Schleiermacher's early research and the grammarian J. Chr. Adelung's (1732-1806) rhetorics enables us to understand the philosophical implications of the concept of style by focusing our attention on the relationship between language and man, which was central to Romantic theory. In spite of his awareness of the diversity of usages, Adelung still examines language by referring to the categories of logics and envisions style as a means toward making discourse intelligible. It is our contention that by submitting this type of rhetorical stylistics to a reading based on Schleiermacher's thought we will be able to reconstruct the terms of a revolution of the notion of style, which would thus relinquish its normative character in order to become the site where the individuality of the speaking subject is to be located. As a consequence, the awareness of the implication of the speaker in discourse is accompanied ba an awareness on the historicity of language.
