Trente ans après ‘L'Orientalisme' : Docteur Edouard, Monsieur Saïd et « la double expulsion »

Abstract : It is on the most “primordial” terrain of the current Palestinian reality – that of the period of 2006 through 2009 – that Said's work may leave space for debate. If, within the horizon of Western public opinion, and over and beyond the circles of purely Arab/Muslim solidarity, the cause of the Palestinians has enjoyed some measure of support, both retroactively to 1948 and 1967, and currently through the various intifadas and other desperate uprisings (however defective or inadequate that support has been), part of this must be attributed to Said's acuity of analysis, and to the theoretical weaponry he has provided in abundance to all who wish to support the rights of the Palestinians.
