« Tuer les "Pères des indépendances" ? Comparaison de deux générations politiques post-indépendances au Sénégal et en Côte d'Ivoire »

Abstract : This article sets out a comparison between contemporary generational movements, the ‘bul faale generation' in Senegal and the ‘Jeunes Patriotes' in Cote d'Ivoire, who both demand, although in different ways, a break the regime of ‘subordinate political assignment', defined at the time of independence in relation to young people and more generally to the ‘cadets sociaux' (young people and also women). Beyond the immediately political or cultural expressions of these two movements, it is also important to show how they engaged in the generational dynamics of rewriting the outlines of ‘national identity' from ‘the bottom up'. Finally, the article will discuss the importance of viewing these generational movements in terms of ‘political generations' in relation to their declared intentions or to their ability to work for political and social change.
