Exploitation des ressources et territoire dans le Massif central français au Paléolithique supérieur : approche méthodologique et hypothèses

Abstract : It is very interesting to study, in a territorial perspective, Human societies who occupied the Massif Central during the Upper Palaeolithic period, because of their significant far-distant raw material procurement, what is an exceptional case in France. The last studies concerning flint sources, its procurement and animal resources exploitation allow us to elaborate our former regional hypothesis. Methodological questions are specified, particularly those concerning lithic technological approach and its use in trying to locate the sites inside the annual nomadic cycle. Specific characters of Reindeer exploitation, especially antlers procurement patterns, are also described in a same way. The assumption of human groups living in the Massif Central and moving during winter time to the northern region (and maybe in two areas) where flint outcrops are located, is still argued.
