Lumières, miroir nocturne des paysages

Abstract : Artificial Lighting has been for some years into a trend of renewal. The way it participate to build-in the contemporary townscape is yet to be solve : does it match with urban-planning strategy, and how ? Can Lighting design, modifiying visual perception with technic, be a support in shaping nightscape in town and suburbs ? This paper deals with the riverside and shores once dedicated to industry within the city, from now on turned out in public space mainly dedicated to leasure, and try to focus on the impact of lighting design : why it should be use, how it is used in facts, its contradiction with the « dayscape ». These questions will be seen through two french exemples - the requalification of parisian channel, and the new dock of Garonne in Bordeaux - , standing between the will of heritage conservation and the necessity of being contemporary, a balance resuming the situation of many shore-reconversion projects in France and Europe.
