À propos d'une inscription grecque de la Hisma

Abstract : The Greek inscription from Sahl Abû al-Suwwâna (IGLS 21, [IGLJ] 4, 138) is actually the result of two distinct graffiti, signed by two different scriptors, Laurikios and Zeno. It cannot be compared with the Nabataean text from Hdeibit al-Falâ, as was thought by the first editors. The phrase by Laurikios constitutes a characteristic acclamation, the date of which must certainly be lowered to the period beginning with the 4th century. It was probably signed subsequently by Zeno. This document, which must be understood first and foremost as a testimony on military society, sheds light on the still-debated question of the « limes Arabicus ».
