Évolution des politiques et projets urbains dans les villes d'Asie, tendances et principes

Abstract : Evolution of urban policies and projects in Asian cities: trends and principles
Many urban upgrading private and public projects are taking place in Asian cities today, participating to their development and marking their transformation. The evolution of practices and ideas used in these projects, which can come occasionally from foreigner actors, combined with taking in consideration the sometimes very quick changes of context (land, economical policies), arouse original propositions and new specific solutions. On which principles, approaches, discourse and representations the actual projects are founded on? How forms and structures are transformed in and by the projects? What is the possible role of occidental or international organisations actors and ideas? How do local actors take in consideration these evolutions when they conceive their interventions, and what are the consequences on the city? Finally, what are the specificities, the resistances and the redefinitions of asian projects facing international models conveyed by cooperation? This workshop synthesis proposes to bring out some actual trends from studies of projects concerning upgrading irregular settlements, valorisation of heritage, privatisation of public spaces, and situated in various countries of East or South-East Asia, specially China, Japan and Cambodia.
