Le chemin vers la vérité et la liberté. Notes sur L'essence de la foi selon Luther de Feuerbach.

Abstract : This paper presents The Essence of faith according to Luther (1844), a document of one of the most productive periods of Feuerbach's thought. The critics of protestant theologians and the political circumstances can explain why Feuerbach turned towards the study of Luther. But the importance of this essay is in the dialog with Luther, called the “first man” by Feuerbach: for Feuerbach interpreting Luther, God for the man abolishes himself as God in itself by becoming man in Christ and, understood as love, shows the complementarity of self-love and love of others. In this, Feuerbach's lecture of Luther's Christology synthesizes his sensual materialism with his anthropological reduction of the essence of God to the essence of man.
