Kashifi's Asrâr-i Qâsimî and Timurid Magic

Abstract : The works of the centralasian scholar and polygraph Hosayn Kâshefî is fairly well known nowadays. His interest for occult sciences has however not been underlined. This article shows that in Kâshefî's views, magic pratices are but an element in the greater array of laws ruling the universe created by God. Performing magic is hence no more opposed to religion than medicine or pharmacopoeia.
