Un rayon de soleil dans l'atelier... La vie quotidienne dans une usine nucléaire.

Abstract : “A ray of sunshine in the shop”: Everyday worklife in a nuclear plant
Part of the nuclear industry, the SFC factory forms a vast, industrial complex near a French town with its economy traditionally based on making shoes. Given its favorable employment conditions, SFC has stabilized its work force in a standardized production process following stringent procedures. In shops, staffing and the rationalization of work have been carried to extremes. To foil everyday conditions, workers play “hooky” inside the factory. They continually skirt around the industry's tight discipline and maneuver for room for autonomy. The “industrial order” has to take into account these “passing workers” who keep on dreaming of being somewhere else.
