Plaidoyer pour la "petite épigraphie" : l'exemple de la cité de Béziers

Abstract : The world of instrumentum is still a neglected source for epigraphy; one is nevertheless struck by the variety of artefacts providing useful information, if only in onomastics. The people appearing on such sources generally belong to a social class which has no access to stone inscriptions. Citizens, on the other hand, reveal here a new aspect of their role in the local economy and more specifically in the craft production.
