GWR, MAUP et lissage par potentiels

Abstract : Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) enables the modeling of spatially varying relationships. However, it is very sensitive to the Modifiable Areal Unit Problem (MAUP). Using a theoretical example, this article first demonstrates the strengths and weaknesses of this technique, then suggests a possible solution: the pre-treatment of data by potential smoothing. finally, a practical application to the European Union is briefly presented.
