Vers une démocratie économique et sociale ? Redéploiement et banalisation du discours syndical

Abstract : Comparing the CFDT and the CGT trade-union discourses from the nineteen-seventies to the present time, this article attempts to put into perspective the deep changes undergone by the usage of linguistic categories related to democracy family word. The analysis focuses on featuring what a democratic process is as well as democracy as such, that is to say, social, trade-unionist and economic democracy. Two categories of corpus feed the analysis : a lexicometric treatment of the resolutions which have led ballot at annual conferences and a contextual study of targeted speeches. The first part paves the way for a diachronic comparison of democracy and democratic uses in the resolutions adopted by the conferences of each of the two national organisations whereas the second part aims through discourse analysis at exploring the sense granted to both words.
