Restructuration and the subject of adjectives

The distribution of the subject of adjectives in French is particularly difficult to represent in a lexicon-grammar, because of the numerous restructurations of the subject. In addition, the description of subject distribution is connected with the separation of senses and the description of the complements in the adjectival sentence. Thus, it is a fundamental issue. We identify several situations where it seems possible to choose a satisfactory strategy. We discuss this organization through various examples of adjectives.

La distribution du sujet des adjectifs en français est particulièrement difficile à représenter dans un lexique-grammaire, en raison des nombreuses restructurations du sujet. De plus, la description de la distribution du sujet est liée à la séparation des sens et à la description des compléments dans la phrase adjectivale. Il s'agit donc d'un problème fondamental. Nous identifions plusieurs situations dans lesquelles il semble possible de choisir une stratégie satisfaisante. Nous discutons cette organisation à travers des exemples variés d'adjectifs.
