This paper is mainly concerned with the uses of the subjunctive in Modern Spanish. Section 2 gives a brief sketch of relevant aspects of the temporal-aspectual system of Spanish. Section 4 briefly describes the conditional. The imperative mood is discussed in the subsection devoted to the subjunctive in root contexts.
