Nature et statut des mobiliers funéraires de la nécropole chasséenne de Monéteau (Yonne)

Der 1999 ergrabene Fundplatz von Monéteau, ‘Sur Macherin’, hat zahlreiche Siedlungsspuren aus der Zeit vom Altneolithikumbis zur gallo-römischen Periode geliefert. Das Neolithikum ist besonders gut vertreten: die Villeneuve-Saint-Germain Kultur mit sieben Wohnstrukturen, das Jungneolithikum mit rätselhaften Grabanlagen, das Endneolithum mit einem kleinen, mehrfach belegten Grab und vor allem das mittelneolithische Chasséen mit einer Nekropole, die mit einer Wallanlage in Verbindung steht. Dieses Gräberfeld setzt sich aus zwei unabhängigen, unterschiedlich strukturierten Komplexen zusammen, die jeweils mit einer monumentalen Anlage in Verbindung stehen. Aufgrund der Bestattungsbräuche, insbesondere dem Vorherrschen der Steinkisten, lässt sich dieser Komplex mit dem westschweizerischen „Chamblandes-Typ“ in Verbindung bringen. Der Fundbestand, der sowohl meridionale Elemente als auch solche des Pariser Beckens beinhaltet, spiegelt die geografi sche Lage der Nekropole wieder.

The Monéteau cemetery presents 20 burials, mostly coffers or boxgraves, divided in two groups inside a probably contemporary enclosure. The grave goods are varied and relatively abundant: pottery, ornaments (limestone beads, pendants mude from boar tusks or beaver incisors), arrow-heads, tranchets, blades, fish- hooks, etc. Their status is different according to their position in the tomb: objects worn by the deceased at the time of burial, such as ornarnents and certain blades which may have been hung from the belt, objects deposited before the coffer was closed (mainly tools), and objects deposited after closure. This last category mainly includes pottery found in the fill of the grave, above the skeleton 's feet, as well as arrow-heads. Correlating grave goods with the age and sex of the individuals shows that practically all the graves contained pottery, whereas personal adornments, objects made of animal bone or horn and arrows were resewed for men and children. The same obsewations can be made concerning most of the data from the Balloy cemetery, belonging to the Cerny culture. This represents a further example of parallels between the successive Cerny and Chasseen cultures where attention has previously been drawn to convergent techno-economic organisations.

Le site de Monéteau, Sur Macherin, exploré en 1999, a livré de nombreuses traces d’occupations, du Néolithique ancien à l’époque gallo-romaine. Le Néolithique est particulièrement bien représenté : le Villeneuve-Saint-Germain, avec sept unités d’habitation, le Néolithique récent avec d’énigmatiques structures funéraires, une petite tombe multiple datée du Néolithique fi nal, et surtout le Néolithique moyen chasséen, avec une nécropole associée à une enceinte. Ce cimetière se compose de deux ensembles disjoints, structurés diff éremment et associés à des dispositifs monumentaux. Les pratiques funéraires, notamment la prépondérance des coff res, rapprochent cet ensemble du domaine « Chamblandes » de Suisse occidentale. Le mobilier, qui comprend des éléments méridionaux comme du Bassin parisien, refl ète la position géographique de la nécropole.
