Passer du local au national, ou comment devient on député sous la Restauration ?
Résumé
The article analyses the way the scale changes in association with the change of register. It is based on the analyses of the overlapping of two processes during the years 1830-1840. The first process corresponds to the developments of the arguments of a Deputy who at the beginning of is career relies on the local territory that elected him but who then progressively turns to the national scale. The second process concerns the discussion about the reform of the postal tariff that goes gradually from the reference to the territory and its roughness to an approach through social relations. The whole is to be seen within the framework of the years that precedes the start of the Second Republic bringing the Universal Suffrage, the unique Postal Tariff and the support of this Deputy for the Republican ideal
L'article s'interroge sur la nature du changement d'échelle en l'associant à celle du changement de registre. Il s'appuie sur l'étude de l'imbrication de deux processus en cours dans les années 1830-1840. Le premier correspond aux évolutions du discours d'un député qui, s'appuyant en début de carrière sur le territoire local qui l'a élu, s'en abstrait progressivement au profit de l'échelle nationale. Le second processus concerne le débat sur la réforme du tarif postal qui voit progressivement disparaître la référence au territoire et à ses rugosités, au profit d'une approche par les relations sociales. L'ensemble est à voir dans le cadre des années qui précèdent l'arrivée du la IIe République qui amènera le suffrage universel, le tarif unique et l'adhésion de ce député à l'idéal républicain.
