La méthode structurale et les systèmes philosophiques

Abstract : One of the most interesting applications of the notion of structure is the analysis of philosophical systems. The French tradition of Martial Gueroult, Victor Goldschmidt, Jules Vuillemin, who critically grounded the notion of philosophical system, is one of the most important modern contribution to philosophy of history of philosophy. We try a critical reconstruction of some of the guiding themes of this tradition. The peculiarity of philosophical structures, in front of linguistical and mathematical ones, is considered in section 1, in the light of Gilles-Gaston Granger conception of 1967. Three problems are then raised. The openness of philosophical systems, in contrast to the closure of linguistical and mathematical structures. The truth in philosophical systems, according to the analysis of Gueroult and Goldschmidt. The relationship between science and philosophy, as it is considered in Vuillemin's work.
