De l'accusation à la cause. L'intégration des controverses et des conflits dans le processus d'innovation.

Abstract : Engineers are often confronted, when trying to complete an innovation process, to discourses of accusations : especially when some problem arises – which is almost unescapable – people, things, organisations are accused by some of the involved actors to be responsible for failures. These discourses, sometimes violent and which seem to escape the expected rationality of innovation activities, are hard to handle for engineers who are tempted to disqualify them. In this paper, drawing upon an example, we will show that accusations must be considered as attempts to analyse in a strategic way the innovation process, to explain it, to define means of action on it. Then they have to be taken seriously, and even their management and confrontation is one of the core task of innovators'work.
