La autonomía de los centros escolares y su regulación

Abstract : This article presents an overall view and assessment of school autonomy. First it analyses the theoretical foundations of autonomy in economic and sociological theories and then it goes on to study the school autonomy policies and their regulatory mechanisms in the United Kingdom, the United States and France, particularly by means of inspections, self-evaluations, and the rendering of accounts. Next it weighs up the effects of autonomy according to regulatory models. It is concluded that autonomy on its own has no direct effect on the efficiency of schools.
