QUELLE PREHISTOIRE ANCIENNE EN BASSE AUVERGNE ET VELAY ?

Abstract : Evolution of palaeoenvironnements between 1.5 and 0.1 Ma is first examined. Then, the problem of earliest lithic assemblages of Massif Central is discussed : evidence for artefacts older than 1,0 Ma.remains to demonstrate. According with recent discoveries, a regional model of evolution is suggested. From pebble-tools assemblages, the main stages are handaxes technology and systematic flaking, then Levallois concept.
