Représentations sociales de l'espace et histoire urbaine : les quartiers d'une grande ville française, Lyon au XIXe siècle

Abstract : Social Representations of Space and Urban History: About Some Areas of a Large French City: Lyons In The 19th Century
Behind the city of stone lies the city of social representations, carved in the minds rather than in the ground. Urban historians are used to describe the first of these two cities, et tend to consider it as the "real one". The access to the other city, the "shadow city", is difficult in spite of an appearance of easiness. One tries here to attempt to pain part of the moral geography of a large french city, Lyons, in order to try to show and understand how this hidden dimension is as much "real" as the city of stone.
