Une violence au nom du père. Les écrivaines italiennes entre amour et haine

Abstract : A violence committed in the name of the father, or on behalf of the fathers, appears to cross the novels of the Italian women writers. The relationship with this parental figure, a relationship that is complex and rich from the symbolic point of view, can be represented in the narrative, by the violence but also by the theme of "dream of love": a dream of completion , of reconstruction of a unit – father/daughter, husband/wife - which can be successful, or be doomed to failure, but that appears closely related to a possible violence and suffering. In this light, an examination of the works Una donna by Sibilla Aleramo, Artemisia by Anna Banti, La bestia nel cuore by Cristina Comencini can raise this recurrence theme in women's writing. Recurrence, which, while bringing to life stories often painful, continues manifesting itself: in women’s writhing, the narration, the unveiling of intimacy, may be the savior.
