L'identité ukrainienne dans le miroir de la presse française : de la représentation à la reconnaissance

Abstract : In the perspective of Information and Communication Sciences we examine the representations of Ukrainian identity in the coverage of the Orange Revolution by the French newspapers (Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération and L'Humanité). This political crisis caused by electoral fraud in the second round of presidential elections of 2004 reshapes the Ukrainian public space and questions the relationship between political identity, cultural identity and social bond between them. The analysis of French press helped to bring out the representations of political and cultural identities "in conflict" in the Ukrainian society and showed how by taking discourse on the other-Ukrainian, the media express French society's values.
