Accès aux variétés végétales et propriété intellectuelle internationale : les chercheurs à l'écoute des analyses des ONG

Abstract : At the International meetings organized by the Lascaux program in Nantes in November 2012, the researchers listened to NGOs and to associations or organizations of the civil society. This text is a synthesis, written by members of the Lascaux program, of the analyses presented by a set of organizations based on the introductory report from Robert Brac de la Perrière, coordinator of the organization Biodiversity Exchanges and Diffusion of Experiments (BEDE) and one of the administrators of the Network Semences Paysannes (Farm Seeds). Seeds and more largely plant varieties are the first agricultural inputs. They are at the base of agriculture, and thus at the base of food. At the same time, they become more and more an object and a challenge of intellectual property. For many observers, peasants and NGOs, the influence of the seed companies on the elaboration of the industrial property law on seeds and varieties raises concerns, especially since the resulting international intellectual property law tends to be reinforced and to spread.
